The fall may feel like it is quickly approaching, but that doesn’t mean you have to wind down your gardening! There is a whole new round of vegetables and other crops that can be planted as we head into the fall, and we have a fresh crop of seedlings ready to keep your garden bountiful through the autumn months. Fall plantings are often some of the most delicious, especially for the brassica family and lettuces, as cooling weather helps them sweeten up.
Seedlings are $2.50 each or 10 for $20. Perennial plants in 4″ pots are $3.50 each. Please bring a box with you to carry your plants. Accepted forms of payment include cash or check only.
The nearest public parking is available in the East Parking Deck and is $1/hour.
All of our seedlings are planted and grown by our student interns, without any pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and we are excited to share them with the community! We time the sale to match the planting timelines we use on the Student Farm, so that after a couple days of hardening off at home, they are ready to plant and are timed properly for fall growth. If fall planting is new for you, there are many resources to help you maintain a successful garden, including a few below. These resources outline some of the transplants you can grow, as well as some of the direct-seeded crops you can plant. Also, be sure to protect your brassica seedlings (cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower and kohlrabi) from cabbage moths— just a few of those little green worms would be hard on small seedlings.
