The campus and community are invited to enjoy the longest day of the year with live music, summer greenery and farm-fresh flavors with the Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm. The fifth annual Summer Solstice Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 21, from 6-8pm on the farm. The celebration is free and open to the public, with the option to purchase food on site.

Guests are invited to try perogies and veggie nachos from Rebelz Mobile Cuisine or grilled sandwiches from Savory Station – both menus feature Student Farm produce! There will also be live music performed by T’n’T Deluxe, an eclectic, acoustic cover band playing hits from five decades. Guests of all ages will have the opportunity to enjoy corn hole, a smoothie bike and other fun summer activities. Student Farm Club merchandise also will be available for purchase.

Cash or credit card will be accepted by the food trucks. Cash or check will be accepted for Student Farm Club merchandise.

The design team working with the Student Farm will also be on site sharing updates about their design plans for a future facility on the farm.  Guests will have the opportunity to meet the team and view the work of DIGSAU (architecture), Ground Control (landscape architecture) and Organic Planet (agricultural + food safety planning) and contribute to an emerging vision for the farm.

“We are excited to invite the campus and the broader community to enjoy a fun and relaxed evening with us on the farm,” Leslie Pillen, the director of the farm program, said. “Our students put in a lot of effort to grow beautiful produce, and the summer solstice is a great time to experience the bounty of the season.”

Guests are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection, a picnic blanket or lawn chair to sit on and sturdy shoes. The farm also asks that guests not bring pets to prevent damage to food crops currently in production. Casual tours will be offered throughout the evening.

The Ross Student Farm is located near the intersection of Big Hollow and Fox Hollow roads. Location details and directions can be found at https://www.studentfarm.psu.edu/find-the-farm/.
