Are you interested in finding ways to link your interests in food and agriculture to community development goals? A new Scholarship, Sustainability and Civic Engagement Program (SSCEP) at Penn State provides opportunities to learn about community development, decision-making and local leadership. Students selected for the program will take a course about community development in spring 2016, complete a summer internship with one of five communities across Penn State (this includes a stipend for summer 2016), and wrap up and reflect on the summer project during a fall 2016 course. Projects focus on a diversity of community needs, with some specifically related to the food system.
