If you’re an undergrad, and still trying to decide what courses to take this semester, you might check out these three:

1. Geography 297, Geographies of Sustainability and Food, taught by Dr. Karl Zimmerer.

2. CI 296A, Education for Sustainability–Teaching, Learning and Leading, taught by Dr. Dana Stuchul. This course is not directly related to food systems, but learning how to develop strategic plans is an excellent skill for anyone interested in working in education or program development, whether it’s through Extension, K-12 schools, or a non-profit organization.

3. AYFCE 845, Intergenerational Programs and Practice, taught by Dr. Matt Kaplan. This is an online course that explores community engagement through intergenerational programs that might be part of schools, health care facilities, recreational facilities, etc. You might even be able to do a course project designing an on-farm intergenerational program.
