Major: Geography

Semester: Spring 2018

Project Supervisor: Kim Gates Flick, Ann Shostrom, Leslie Pillen

SDG: 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

After hearing about the experimental fiber plants the Student Farm was growing, Eva Bonta had an idea to grow crops that could be made into natural dyes and used by students for art. This idea led to a collaboration with the School of Visual Arts and is now an exciting studio class called Sustainable Studio! Eva’s project included developing an educational manual with growing, harvesting & dyeing instructions for 12 different dye crops suitable for central PA’s climate. In addition to designing the manual, she presented her project outcomes at the Sustainability Expo and helped plan a workshop for the Student Farm’s summer event, Art on the Acre.
