Medicinal and Traditional Value of Plants for Community and Residential Gardens

Project: Medicinal and Traditional Value of Plants for Community and Residential Gardens

Student: Taylor Hill

Major: Landscape Contracting

Semester: Fall 2017

Project Supervisor: Leslie Pillen/Martin McGann

SDG: 3 – Good Health

The goal of this project is to help people plant more gardens and grow more of their own food, and give community members and students ideas for planting in residential or community gardens! Started with 10 plants (inspired by his research of Medieval era plants that are still used today) – Taylor’s idea was to make this an ongoing project that other students could add their favorite plants to, eventually forming a manual of suggested plants for gardens. Eventually, there will be signage displayed on the Student Farm to create interest and provide opportunities to expand the project in the future.
