We’re affectionately calling this week the “Week of Brassicas.”

Last week we gave you the scoop on kohlrabi and mentioned that it’s related to other plants in the brassica family, which includes cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, brussels sprouts, turnips, and other yummy veggies. This week, we’ve packed your box full of these guys. We’ve also filled this email with lots of recipes!

Clockwise: Colin, harvesting kale; Leslie, trimming cabbage, and John, harvesting cabbage.

This week’s pick includes:

  • kale
  • kohlrabi
  • broccoli
  • cabbage
  • sage
  • basil
  • tomatoes
  • summer squash (from our first harvest of squash!)

Do you also have lots of kale that you’re hoping to use creatively? CSA Member Leslie D. experimented with this recipe for Fried Green Meatlessballs and gave it a good review!

We would love it if you would #ShareYourShare — If you experiment with any recipes, let us know! We love to hear about what’s cooking in your kitchen.

At this weekend’s Art on the Acre event, we served up some farm fresh pestos. If you’re looking to recreate some of your own, try this vegan recipe or this nut-free recipe. We know that pine nuts, a typical pesto ingredient, can be expensive. To save on ingredients, we tried a kale and sunflower seed recipe and liked it!
